StarDock Fences is a Windows utility created for users who wish to boost up their productivity. With its help, you can easily organize your desktop items and immediately get the clean, well-ordered screen you need. This tool might prove to be of good use to people who need to quickly start capturing their screen activity and don't want their overly cluttered desktop to be a part of their recording.
The program is capable of automatically organizing your desktop items into different "fences", based on their file extension. For example, it creates separate "fences" for directories, documents, and applications.
You can also create your own "fences". Simply draw a rectangle with your mouse on an empty desktop area and click the "Create fence here" option. Afterwards, you can start using drag-and-drop actions to add content to the group, customize the appearance of the "fence", and sort the included files, apps or folder anyway you like.
The application provides you with a quick way to hide and reveal desktop items (double click over an empty desktop area), various sorting options for organizing the content from your "fences", etc.
The only thing I'd add to this program would be an integrated help guide. Even though several useful instructions are available within the app's interface, it's pretty difficult to keep track where's the info you need. A built-in help manual, with a search feature, might prove to be of good use. I had to figure out myself how to reveal the main window of the application (right-click over an empty desktop area and select the "Configure Fences" option), move "fences" between screens, etc.
Briefly, StarDock Fences is a useful and efficient program that helps you keep your desktop organized. It's feature-rich, works 100%, and is affordable. So, I can't find any reason why you shouldn't give it a try.
